Have you ever been frustrated with how many accounts you need to log in to when managing your brand? Well, good news, Meta’s announced the Meta Account, a new centralised way to log in and manage all your Meta apps and devices in one easy dashboard.
What’s a Meta Account?
The Meta Account is an upgrade to Meta’s current Accounts Center. It acts as a centralised dashboard, allowing you to manage universal settings, such as email addresses connected to your profiles, and allows you to set a single password that controls access to your entire Meta suite. This includes Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Messenger and hardware, such as AI glasses and VR headsets.
While your existing business accounts will be automatically connected within this upgrade, you still have control. If you’d prefer not to combine your Meta accounts into one, you can manually adjust this in your settings.
If you do choose one login to manage multiple apps, your Meta Account is protected by enhanced security features. These include passkeys, 24/7 threat protection and personalised security recommendations. This is an essential update to protect your business from cyber attacks. According to a recent report by the National Anti-Scam Centre’s (NASC), combined losses from phishing scams reached $97.6 million in 2025, which was a 15.5% increase from the previous year.
How do I know if I’ve got access to a Meta Account?
The upgrade to Meta Account is automatic, though you mightn’t see a change in your dashboard immediately. This is because Meta is rolling out the update gradually over 2026 and into 2027. There are three main ways to tell if your account has transitioned, including:
- In app-notifications: Meta will send you a direct notification or display banner at the top of your Facebook or Instagram feed when your account is ready.
- New Meta Account branding: Open your settings and look for your account management area. You’ll know the change has occurred when the interface is updated to the new Meta Account branding.
- New security prompts: You may receive prompts asking you to set up a passkey or to update your existing password to meet new security standards.
If multiple people have access to your brand’s social media accounts, it’s important they’re all aware of these upcoming changes. This is because different users within the same business may migrate at different times. If LEP Digital currently manages your social media accounts, you don’t need to worry about this, as we’ll manage the transition on your behalf.
Is there anything I need to do to prepare for a Meta Account?
For most users, the change to Meta Account will be automatic, but there are a few decisions you should consider, including:
- Deciding if you want to link your existing business Meta apps and devices into one platform, or keep them separate. If you choose to keep them separate, you’ll need to manually remove specific accounts via your settings after the update has occurred.
- If you use WhatsApp for customer support, you’ll need to decide if you want to add it to your Meta Account. This is because, unlike Facebook and Instagram, WhatsApp will not be added automatically.
